Odeith

Painter, Street Art

Location : Portugal

Sérgio ‘Odeith’ was born in 1976 in Damaia (Portugal). It was in the mid-1980s when he used a spray can for the first time. He painted some signatures and doodles on his neighborhood walls. But only in the mid-1990s. Sérgio had his first contact with graffiti. While some graffiti writers painted outside their neighborhood (Carcavelos). Where graffiti had a strong movement. His first experiments were to paint illegally on the street walls. And mostly on the railway lines of the Sintra line. The passion he has always shown for drawing has found a new purpose. The evolution was impressive due to the dedication to painting large-scale murals in Damaia, Carcavelos. And in many poor neighborhoods of Amadora city.

ATOM

Photographer

Location : Japan

ATOM is a Japanese photographer born in 1980. He traveled to 64 countries over 6 years and encountered many cultures and many people. The experience gained from the trip raised many questions for himself.
What does it mean to life.  Coexistence with nature, happiness and purpose of living for? And the fundamental question is, “Why am I born in Japan in this age?”
By leaving Japan, he reconsidered his homeland. And pondered about living as a Japanese and a modern people. Conscious of his identity as a Japanese, he uses the motifs of symbols that symbolize Japan. Takes a photo of the present age, and prints it on the most precious handmade Japanese paper in Japan.
He will continue to travel and explore and express the meaning of living as a Japanese in the present age.

Already questioning the established system and the role of individuals. As social agents in a predetermined structure. Merz has returned to traditional forms. Almost ancestral, including household items. Animals and archaic constructions such as the igloo. With organic, everyday and symbolic materials. He sought to deepen the origin of the company. And the traces of this model life in present times.

Lee Jae Hyo

Sculptor

Location : Seoul (Korea)

Lee Jaehyo is a Korean sculptor. Who has exhibited extensively in his homeland and in Europe. He makes free-standing sculptures and reliefs from humble. Almost mundane, materials. Principally logs and steel nails. These are transformed with great skill. And hours of industrious toil into lustrous and refined objects. Their highly polished and burnished surfaces express. An attention to detail and a painstaking concern. For disclosing the innate beauty of the material. These unique forms are derived. From the interdependence of man-made and natural. Their structural integrity relies. On the contrasting combination of steel and wood.

STINE DEJA

ANNKA KULTYS GALLERY – Feb 28 to March 28, 2020 London (UK)

Annka Kultys Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works by the Danish artist based in London: Stine Deja.
Stine Deja’s practice explores the sticky intermediary of the real and virtual worlds. With a striking arsenal of media that includes 3D animation. The immersive installation, the moving image and the digital substitutes. In Deja’s simulated spaces. Strange avatars are articulated between what is strange and familiar. We allure ourselves with not quite real products. Also informed by the artist’s simultaneous fascination and repulsion with our hyper-commercialized contemporary culture.
