Roshan is a multidisciplinary artist. Its production is deeply informed by its Bahktiari tribal heritage. The involvement of his family for many generations in the country’s oil industry. His works contain archival documents. Maps produced in Great Britain. Standard helmets. Torches. Period photographs. Scenes from the Iran-Iraq war – and crude oil and tea. Roshan neither celebrates nor condemns the oil sector. Rather, it presents the cautious view of an informed insider who masters the complexity and history of the subject.
