Multi-year projects.
He Xiangyu’s conceptual practice manifests itself in multi-year projects that span sculpture, drawing, installation, and video. Coming from a generation of artists who experienced China’s rapid urbanization as children, Xiangyu’s work seeks to alter the viewer’s perception of cultural signifiers through the examination and manipulation of material. Divergent in their aesthetics, Xiangyu’s projects seek to explore a range of personal, social, and political themes, addressing cultural boundaries and the commercial status of contemporary art.
