Sophie Taeuber-Arp at Tate Modern

Sophie Taeuber-Arp at Tate Modern
Tate Modern – Until Oct. 17, 2021 London (UK)

A long-awaited recognition of Taeuber-Arp’s essential contribution to modern art and design. Sophie Taeuber-Arp was one of the greatest abstract artists and designers of the 1920s and 1930s. Her multidisciplinary work has a lasting influence. Inspiring innovative artists and designers from around the world.

Dada.

Taeuber-Arp’s creative output was extraordinarily diverse and at times controversial. She made embroidery and paintings. Carved sculptures and edited magazines. Created puppets and mysterious Dada objects. She combined traditional craftsmanship with the vocabulary of modernist abstraction. Defying the boundaries between art and design.
This is the first retrospective of his work ever to be staged in the UK. It brings together his main works from major collections in Europe and the United States. Most of which have never been seen in this country before.
