Shields, a photographer, screenwriter, and director, incorporates themes of consumerism. Fantasy, excess, and eroticism in his work, weaving in references to Old Hollywood. Glamour photography, pulp fiction, advertising campaigns, and other visual media that have soaked into American culture. This exhibition celebrates a decade of controversial work by one of today’s most daring photographers.
