Visual artist, performer
Location: London (UK)
Anthea Hamilton (b. 1978) is a London-based artist whose current practice includes installation. sculpture and performance. His work is always site specific. A consideration of place and cultural and political environment as well as his personal circumstances at the time provide a framework for Hamilton’s research. Intuition then shapes ideas into an unspoken structure. Kimonos, chastity belts, boots, perfumes, furniture, mime troupes. Conversation and collaboration are also essential to how Hamilton works.
Objects and pictures.
Made up of a combination of objects and images, both found and made and anchored in a common experience of the world. The environments she produces are lively and conversational, both humorous and serious, both minimal and maximal.
