Fiona Banner (born 1966), also known as The Vanity Press, is a British artist. Her work encompasses sculpture, drawing, installation and text. Banner demonstrates a long-standing fascination with the fighter jet emblem and their role in culture and particularly as presented in film. She is well known for her early works in the form of “wordscapes”. Written transcripts of stop-motion action in Hollywood war movies. Including Top Gun and Apocalypse Now. His work has been exhibited in leading international venues such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Hayward Gallery in London. Banner was shortlisted for the Turner Prize. Banner lives and works in London.
