Location: Paris (France)

JYM was born in and raised in Germany, from a German mother and an English father. After schooling in Munich, curious to discover the other culture, she will study in London. First she will learn science, a concession to her parents. She dares to drop out after visiting a Rodin exhibition, so moved to have seen the feelings and the movement in the form. She is accepted for the preparatory course at Heatherley’s School of Art in London. Then will do her Fine Arts degree at Camberwell College of Arts, one of the 5 art schools in London.

Living model.

Very quickly attracted by the living model, she goes beyond the academic nude by the search for an underlying frame reflecting the soul of the model. It combines affective state and rigor. All revealed by strong contrasts of light. his influences are Giacometti, Frank Auerbach and Rembrandt.

Raphael’s work.

Three years after its admission, the management closes the model room. JYM returns “to the sources” and spends his time in museums copying the masters. There, she discovers the harmony of lines that respond to each other, especially in the work of Raphaël.
This is the time of the first landscapes, always on the ground. JYM seeks to capture the light, the poetry of space and moment. The space of nature becomes the space of painting, a land of personal adventure. Transcribe with touches of color the mysterious and indefinable nature.

For 30 years.

JYM relentlessly refines lines and harmonies. In constant search between the image of the model and what she feels about it. By simplifying to convey a message and at the same time leave room for daydreaming.
The work of the figures translates fragility and tenderness, fractures and strengths. The work of the landscapes an escape into the infinity of the moment, the poetry of the distance.
