Julia Gutman is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in the land of Gadigal without giving in. She reuses found textiles to produce “quilts”, which merge personal and collective stories to explore themes of femininity, intimacy and memory. Julia holds an MFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Also, a BFA in painting from UNSW Art and Design. She was a finalist for the Ramsay Prize 2021 at the Art Gallery of South Australia. From the 2020 NSW Visual Arts Emerging Fellowship at Artspace Sydney. Julia’s practice has been featured in the Sydney Morning Herald. ABC Arts. His work has been exhibited across Australia and abroad with exhibitions in Sydney, Adelaide, Rome and New York. Julia is represented by Sullivan & Strumpf.
