Kohei Nawa

Kohei Nawa graduated in 1998 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kyoto, sculpture section. In 2003 he obtained his doctorate in sculpture from the same university. Nawa is a professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design.
In 2011, his first solo exhibition took place at the Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art (MOT). In 2013, he participated in the Setouchi Triennial and the Aichi Triennial, after having achieved with considerable success his Manifold project. A permanent large-format sculpture installation in Cheonan (Korea).
PixCell.
Through the unique concept PixCell, which he forged from “pixel” and “cell”. He continues to expand the possibilities of sculpture by using a wide variety of materials and techniques.
Moving smoothly between different media. Kohei Nawa’s work explores themes of science and digital culture. Thus, while challenging the sensory experiences of viewers.
