León Ferrari : Amiable Cruelty

León Ferrari : Amiable Cruelty

León Ferrari “Amiable Cruelty”
Center Pompidou – Until Aug 29, 2022 Paris (France)

León Ferrari (1920-2013) is the author of a protean body of work. Alternately mysterious and literal, whose formal rigor is matched only by its subversive power.

Struck by the violence of his time. In particular that of the Vietnam War, Ferrari devotes his work to demonstrating the barbarity of the liberal Western world. He never ceases to alert us to the process by which art embellishes and trivializes violence. a mechanism he called “amicable cruelty”.
