Curated by Tate in the UK and drawn from their prestigious collection, Light: Works from Tate’s Collection celebrates groundbreaking moments from over 200 years of art history. Also, artists who have harnessed this elemental force through painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, installation and the moving image.

Linked by their fascination with light as material and subject, more than 70 works feature in this successful exclusive exhibition. Including must-see historic paintings by iconic artists like the great Romantic painter J.M.W. Turner, John Constable, Wassily Kandinsky and Josef Albers, plus the atmospheric beauty and transient light effects captured by Impressionist painters Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley.
Modern artists.
These extraordinary paintings are juxtaposed with equally groundbreaking works by modern and contemporary artists: the crystalline sculpture Stardust Particle (2014) by Olafur Eliasson. The kaleidoscopic The Passing Winter (2005) by Yayoi Kusama. The immersive Raemar, Blue (1969) by James Turrell. Tacita Dean’s 16mm film Disappearance. at Sea (1996) and the moving sculpture Liquid Reflections (1968) by Liliane Lijn. Taken collectively, these radiant works establish fascinating connections between time. The medium and the style, throwing light onto the viewer’s body and absorbing it in visions of infinite brilliance and luminosity.
