The exhibition begins with Picasso’s arrival in Paris and his first meeting with the older and respected Matisse. It traces their relationship from curiosity to competition and finally. The respect. “No one has ever looked at Matisse’s work as thoroughly as I have. And him to me. ” Said Picasso on the death of his friend in 1954.
