Diane Rosenstein Gallery is honored to present Roland Reiss: The Castle of Perseverance, curated by Jorin Bossen. This focused exhibition will show Reiss’s epic, room-sized installation (premiered 1978). As well as a related selection of miniatures.

The Castle of Perseverance (1978) is a life-size sculptural installation. First exhibited in 1978 at the Newport Harbor Art Museum (now Orange County Museum of Art). This installation will be presented here for the first time in a decade. The Castle is Reiss’s interpretation of a typical mid-class American 1970s living room. Completely recreated in particleboard. The uniform, monochrome yellow-brown surfaces create a real / unreal environment, which Reiss also uses in her miniatures. This facility offers visitors the opportunity to enter. Then, to inhabit the diorama-type conceptual and narrative sculptures for which Reiss was so widely recognized. Also, to think of yourself as human figurines inside.
