Studio Drift

Visual Artists, Installation

Location : Netherlands

Dutch artists Lonneke Gordijn (1980) and Ralph Nauta (1978) founded the studio DRIFT in 2007. With a multidisciplinary team of 64 people. They work on sculptures. Experiential installations and performances.

DRIFT manifests the hidden phenomena and properties of nature. With the use of technology. To learn about the underlying mechanisms of the Earth. So, reestablish our connection with it.

Deconstructive processes.

With both depth and simplicity. DRIFT’s works of art highlight the parallels between artificial structures. Natural through deconstructive processes. Interactive and innovative. Artists raise fundamental questions about what life is. And explore a positive scenario for the future.

Photographer

Location : New-York (USA)

Photographer Suzanne Saroff, born in Montana. She is based in New York. It combines everyday objects with different tools. Techniques and colors to create alternative ways of perception and expression.
Suzanne works with light. Shadows in the Shadows series. Flowers and glasses with mysterious lines. Give life to their dark part. The light in their soul. The shadows suggest movement and create a second point of view. Also, they tell another story. Some photographs become animations that reveal secrets.

Photographers

Location : Spain

Andrea Torres Balaguer (born in 1990 in Barcelona). She is a contemporary Spanish photographer. Also, she graduated in fine arts from the University of Barcelona.
His style of photography is a combination of art and people. His albums share a different tale with a distinct theme. Most of the time, she prefers to have dark shades. A black and white combination to express the emotions of the development of objects. The stories are not purely based on the color combinations she chooses. But on how the subject’s body complements with their facial expressions. His images seem to be captured in the middle of a discussion. From a candid scene. Which ignites the spectator’s imagination.

Şakir Gökçebağ

Şakir Gökçebağ

Şakir Gökçebağ

Sculptor, Installation

Location : Turkish

Şakir Gökçebağ part deciphers. Part conceals the mundane images of industrial production. In a circulation that treads from the local to the universal. The objects Gökçebağ selects for his artistic production. Are beyond being objects of use and ready-made. And instead are artistic materiel such paint. Marble. Stone. Paper and canvas. These objects assume a new form by departing their true meanings. But without banishing their first meanings. Clothespin. Tray. Nails. Pokers and sieves. While becoming “something” new. They signify an abstract or a surreal view on the one hand. While on the other hand they adopt a new way. Of seeing following the intervention of the artist.

Dual existence.

This dual existence constitutes the core of Gökçebağ’s production. As the artist plucks objects. Out of their daily context. He adds as well as subtly subtracts from them. Creating alternative planes of meaning and the objects in this dual existence. Having lost a lot as they transform their identities. Are reborn in the playground Gökçebağ creates with their recognition being replaced by a familiarity.

Whose habitat has declined due to human activity. By choosing the material he uses. It raises the ecological perspective. Jaanisoo hopes that the animal will bring joy to the weeklies. And will counterbalance the research. And the studies of the University.

Maria Svarbova – June 15 to 31 Jully

Maria Svarbova – June 15 to 31 Jully

Maria Svarbova

Gilman Contemporary – June 15 to 31 Jully, 2020 Ketchum, Idaho (USA)

Gilman Contemporary presents Maria Svarbova-Yesterday’s Future. The exhibition will present 20 photographs. Including works from his famous Swimming Pool series. The exhibition will present photographs of the famous swimming pool by Slovak artist Maria Svarbova. And will include works from the most recent Lost in the Valley. Playing from June 15 to July 30.

From his Swimming Pool series in 2014. Svarbova created an instantly recognizable aesthetic. The swimming pool is supported by public spaces. Built in the socialist era and explores space. The color and the atmosphere. Each image carefully orchestrated. Illustrates Maria’s vision of humanity in the public sphere. The scenes are filled with modern freshness. Which highlights the depth and range of its creative palette.

Slovak architecture.

Svarbova has gone beyond Slovak architecture with its swimming pools. But his work remains separate. In her series Lost in the Valley, she applied her signature aesthetic to the arid landscape of Death Valley. These cinematographic images are dreamlike. The models seem frozen in time. But the work has a silent, modern and fresh tension.

In 2018, Svarbova was recognized as a Hasselblad master. Her work has been featured in publications ranging from CNN and The Guardian to Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.

Milena Naef

Milena Naef

Milena Naef

Sculptor, Installation

Location : Switzerland

Milena Naef is fascinated by the thought that our bodies are in constant “choreography” with their environment. Due to the inevitable presence of our body. Also, Milena believes that we define ourselves by constant interaction. That we are obliged to have with our environment. Our own creations have allowed us to appropriate ourselves. To cultivate and reflect on the spaces we inhabit. The ability to shape and manipulate materials affects us through physical exploration in itself. Finally, she considers this interactive exploration as a reflection on ourselves as a material.
